Djordje is busy working towards a degree in Sports Science, with a minor in Commerce, when he’s not coaching water polo or working with young people as a recreation instructor for the city of Port Moody. In addition to his duties as an assistant men's coach with Pacific Storm, Djordje is head coach for Coquitlam Lions Water Polo, and previously coached with the Port Moody Aquarians summer water polo program.
He spent 11 years as a player, including a stint with Canada’s senior national program and also played professionally in Europe with Serbia and Montenegro-Jadran. (He’s fluent in Serbian, and English). Djordje collected a national championship with Storm in 2005, and was also an all-star selection at that tournament. He has represented Canada at the Pan-Am Games. "I like to give back to the water polo community whenever I can," Djordje says. "I enjoy every -- and any -- activity as long as it's with my friends and/or my family. I also enjoy keeping active, playing sports and exercising regularly."
"I plan on pursuing my coaching career with Pacific Storm and be part of the program's rebuilding process. I hope to have the effect on kkids that my coaches had on me, and influence them the same way. As I coach, I hope not only to teach the children about water polo but to teach them about life, and give them life lessons that they will take with them and remember -- even after they stop playing water polo."
