Jay has spent the majority of his life in or at a pool in one capacity or another. He has played water polo for 20 years in all, getting his start in the sport with Coquitlam Lions before moving to Storm to be coached with Michel Roy where they went on to win 9 National Championships culminating with Juvenile Nationals where he was awarded the MVP award. Jay was also awarded the Premier’s Athletic Award in 1999. After graduating from Centennial High School, Jay moved to Calgary as part of the Men’s National Team to continue his pursuit of the sport at the highest level.
Since moving back to the lower mainland Jay has kept busy lifeguarding, doing contractor work and is currently preparing for his next goal of becoming a firefighter.
In his spare time Jay likes to spend his time in some water related activity including swimming, water polo, scuba diving and fishing.
Jay’s goal for coaching Storm’s younger athletes this season is to provide the fundamental skills needed to be competitive and enjoy the sport at the same time.
